Kizmat is a ritual of sound and movement exploring the question of accepting Kismet as fate, never taking a risk opposed to crafting a destiny that offers potential for what may happen. This dance work is in the contemporary style of Maugham that is informed by the Sufi and Shamanic transformation ritual.

Details 
This series of dynamic chanting exercises provides a rich artistic and cultural experience for participants with or without any previous experience. The classes are designed to introduce an integrated arts experience through investigating Sufi and Shamanic dance rituals of the Middle East and Central Asia. This will include poetry, music, calligraphy and dance. This dance workshop  will introduce ways of integrating body, mind, and emotion, through dance, music and story telling.

SASHAR ZARIF Dance Theatre is looking for male/female dancers for the 2018-2021 Projects

WHO: Dancers trained in all forms of dance who are interested in exploring modes of dance as ritual, self inquiry, as well as performance and creative process that includes improvisation, breath work and chanting or sounding.

WHAT: The company is looking for new dancers to join the ensemble. Sashar Zarif’s work delves into rigorous dance practice integrating concepts of ritual, body-mind integrations, and his process “Moving Memories”. His artistic practice invites a 
convergence of creative and cultural perspectives steeped in the artistry and history of traditional, ritualistic, and contemporary dance of the Near Eastern and Central Asian regions.

TIME:Dancer's schedule has to allow commitment to annual intensive training sessions as well as periods for rehearsal. DATES: Audition: June 2, 3-3:30 personal warm-up. 3:30-4:30 workshop to present basic technique and concepts. 4:30-5:30 audition: come prepared to learn new material and to dance a 3 minute audition piece of your own. Annual Training: Potential candidates may be invited to be involved in the company’s annual training from mid August to September and in creation and production projects in 2018-21. Exact schedules to be determined.

Toronto (Coxwell and Danforth) Fee: $20 /class or $170/two months 
Details  - This series of dynamic chanting dance classes provides a rich artistic and cultural experience for participants with or without any previous experience. The classes are designed to introduce an integrated arts experience through investigating Sufi and Shamanic dance rituals of the Middle East and Central Asia. This will include poetry, music, calligraphy and dance. This dance workshop series will introduce ways of integrating body, mind, and emotion, through dance, music and story telling. The class will also investigate stories of migration and the quest for identity. This journey provides a mindful experience for participants and is open to youth and adults of all levels of experience.
